Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented General Accountant to join our dynamic start-up team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, including preparing and analyzing financial statements, developing, and implementing financial policies and procedures, and managing the budgeting and forecasting process. You will also be responsible for coordinating with various project stakeholders (customers, engineers, team members, utilities) through project documentation, update calls, and presentations, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions and records related to project accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake the corporate book keeping, covering financial operations of the company and company projects.

  • Preparation and analysis of financial statements.

  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.

  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, including analyzing variances and identifying trends.

  • Tracking invoices, remittances, preparation of payroll documents

  • Liaise and coordinate with various project stakeholders (customers, engineers, team members, utilities) through project documentation, update calls, and presentations.

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions and records.

  • Provide guidance and support to other departments on financial matters.

  • Take on tasks from various departments and areas that are required in a quickly growing start-up.

  • Manage relationships with external partners, such as auditors and financial institutions.

Qualifications:

  • Finance diploma required, Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in a financial management role, including experience in a start-up environment.

  • CPA or CA preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices related to project accounting, including GAAP and IFRS.

  • Proficiency with accounting software, such as QuickBooks and ERP systems.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • Flexibility to take on a variety of tasks in a start-up environment.

  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends related to project accounting.

  • Experience managing budgets and forecasting for project accounting.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, Teams).
